Chalkreel for ChatGPT · Effective October 21, 2026

This policy explains how Chalkreel for ChatGPT (“Chalkreel”, “we”), published by DO TU ANH, handles information when you use the Chalkreel app inside ChatGPT or another assistant that supports MCP apps, and when you visit chalkreel.app. ChatGPT itself is operated by OpenAI under OpenAI's own privacy policy. The Chalkreel apps for iOS and Windows are covered by their own policies.

The short version

What we receive

When you ask for a video, the assistant calls Chalkreel's tools with arguments it writes from your request: the video title, the scenes' text and narration, characters' lines, the options chosen (format, board, music, voices, presenter) and, if pictures are used, references to them (web links or download links of files in your ChatGPT conversation). We do not receive your name, email address, ChatGPT account details or the rest of your conversation — only what the assistant puts into these arguments. Like any web server, ours also sees technical request data such as IP address, user agent and the name and version of the assistant app.

How we use it

Only to provide the service: the server turns the arguments into a Chalkreel project (the scenes, drawings, timing and voice plan) and returns it to the player in your chat. The server is stateless — there is no database, nothing is saved after the request is answered, and nothing is used to build profiles, to advertise, or to train AI models.

Voice-over (OpenAI text-to-speech)

When a video has voice-over, the player asks our server for the audio of each line. Our server sends that line's text, the chosen voice and a short speaking-style instruction to OpenAI's text-to-speech API, which returns the audio. OpenAI processes this data as our service provider under its API terms; under those terms API data is not used to train OpenAI's models by default and may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. The voices are AI-generated, not human. To make repeated playback fast and avoid paying for the same audio twice, the audio of each line is cached by our hosting provider's content delivery network (CDN), keyed by a signed web address that encodes the line. You can ask for a video without voice-over at any time.

Pictures

If you or the assistant put pictures into a video by web link, or you pick a picture from your ChatGPT files in the player, our server fetches that picture from its source (public https addresses only) and passes it through to the player, because the player may only load content from our server. The picture is not analysed or kept by us; the response is cached by the CDN under a signed address so that it loads quickly again. Pictures you add from your device in the player never leave your browser.

What stays in your browser

Drawing and playing the video, mixing the music and voices, exporting the MP4 and creating the project download all run inside the player in your browser. Exported files are saved by your browser or ChatGPT; we never receive them. The player loads its fonts from our server.

Logs

Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps runtime and request logs for a short period (about a day or less with our current plan) to operate and secure the service. The log lines our code writes record the type and shape of a request — for example which tool was called, the number of scenes and characters, the video format, whether pictures were given and the host name of picture links — and errors. They do not record the text of your videos. Note that the web address of a voice-over or picture request encodes the line of text or the picture's link (in signed form), so the hosting provider's standard request logs may briefly contain those addresses.

Service providers

We share data with no one else and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Cookies and tracking

Neither the player nor chalkreel.app sets cookies, uses analytics, or includes advertising or tracking code.

Children

Chalkreel is a general-audience creative tool used through ChatGPT and other assistants, which set their own minimum ages. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we store nothing, there is no child data on our side to delete; if you have a concern, contact us.

Your choices and rights

Since we keep no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete after a request is answered. Avoid putting personal or sensitive information into videos you create. Depending on where you live you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; you can exercise them or ask any question by contacting us.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Voice-over and picture addresses are signed by our server so they cannot be used to make arbitrary requests, and the picture fetcher refuses private or local network addresses.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date above.
